Active Reading

When deciding what to annotate and mark when actively and critical reading. I annotated ideas that I thought could relate back to my claim that I thought would be helpful down the road. I realized that as an active reader I questioned my thoughts; “What does this mean?”, “Why am I being asked to read this text?”. I think that from the start of the paper I questioned a lot of the texts I was reading. You can clearly tell the progression from the beginning of the year. I learned how to understand, question, relate, and challenge my ideas with others. At the start of the semester, I focused mainly on ideas that related to my own but then I realized that by pointing out ideas that challenged my own, it actually caused me to think more deeply about what I wanted to talk about and fueled my brain to think of the other side. There were also times where I questioned my own ideas and I annotated where certain information would help clear up any confusion. Relating and connecting thoughts between the texts caused me to cause new ideas that I didn’t necessarily think about.
