Docuement Work (MLA)
My ability to integrate quotes using appropriate signal phrasing, quotation marks, and parenthetical citations has improved drastically. Embedding quotes into my essays was once something that I struggled with because I often put in quotes where they didn’t flow with what I was trying to say. I think that now I am able to insert quotes that are fit for what I am trying to say by making it so that it isn’t detached from the sentence. Embedding quotes was something I struggled with up until this point. Citing the author after inserting quotes is something I also struggled with. I didn’t know when to put the author’s name at the end of a quote until now. When the authors name is stated somewhere in the sentence, it is not needed to put their name at the end of the sentence. I have noticed block quotations have been an issue before and I think I know now that blocking quoting has a time and a place. Determining whether or not it’s a article title, book title, journal title, online magazine, or a print journal was another thing I can now determine. I know what to look for when deciding what it is.
