- I am working well with Gees’ concepts by relating the two concepts of IMRaD and Gees’ thoughts together to make discourse make even more sense. I think I used many good examples of relating similar quotes together. I will apply a more solid engagement to my paragraph mostly about the IMRaD cheat sheet because I feel that I could use more examples from the sheet to back up more argument.
- I think that I did a good job integrating pieces of language to support my claim in my paragraph about the discussion portion of a scientific paper. I kept it short and sweet and I felt that my thoughts were very clear here. I related it to something that was tangible rather than talking about something that isn’t.
- My conclusion needs some work and that is because I wasn’t sure how to necessarily connect and tie all my thoughts together so that it made sense. I think that I was throwing information together to make my conclusion but I wasn’t doing it effectively. I need to make an outline of what I want to talk about in my conclusion.
- My analysis on discourse tells us that especially in a scientific discourse, it takes even more practice to master these skills. Discourse are often things acquired throughout life and a scientific discourse is something that needs time to master.
